Yardley resident sends $53,000 after responding to computer virus message
Victim called a number shown in a computer virus warning and sent $53,000; scammers then attempted to extract another $173,000 before the fraud was recognized.
Lower Makefield Township Police say a resident on the 1700 block of Mulberry Way reported at 4:34 p.m. that they received a computer virus message and called the phone number displayed. An unknown male requested $53,000, which the victim sent; the man later attempted to have the victim send $173,000 before it was discovered to be a scam. The incident was reported Sept. 24, 2026.
